Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Wilmington, NC | Cardiac Stepdown

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours/Week | 13–26 Week Assignments

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, aortic and mitral valve conditions, Endocarditis, Cardiomyopathy, and vascular conditions
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and oversee patients post-cardiac catheterization, post-DCCV, post-electrophysiology procedures, and post-pacemaker placement
• Manage cardiac drips and titrate as required; perform sheath management and sheath removal
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including arterial lines, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), epicardial pacing wires, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG
• Support non-invasive airway management including external CPAP/BiPAP and nasal cannula; care for post-surgical patients including CABG, TAVR, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and other cardiac and thoracic surgeries
• Document using EPIC, communicate via SBAR, and administer medications via Pyxis; participate in unit float rotation and weekend coverage (4 weekends per 4-week period)

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
• Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Local candidates are welcome to apply (candidates within 50 miles of the facility should be aware a local rate applies)

• Arterial line management experience
• Wound care and wound vac experience
• Charge nurse experience

• Work in a dynamic cardiac stepdown environment managing a diverse and complex patient population with exposure to advanced cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures
• 13–26 week contract lengths offer flexibility, and travel pairs are permitted (must be on different units and disclosed at submission)
