Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN with 2+ years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure for a night shift hospital position.

Details
  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit with multi-level care including stepdown coverage
  • Patient population includes dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture cases
  • Isolation area maintained for COVID patients
  • Target patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
  • 13-20 week contracts accepted
  • Floating required within or near the facility
  • Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract
  • Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
  • May be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
Requirements
  • Active NC or compact RN license (pending acceptable at submission)
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skills required:

    Med/Surg and telemetry remote monitoring, Rapid Response Team utilization, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocols, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin and PCA administration, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen therapy, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
  • Preferred skills include dysrhythmia management, on-unit telemetry monitoring, port access, insulin titration, CVA care, surgical drain management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending acceptable at submission)
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive Med/Surg Telemetry care including cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, and wound management
  • 24-hour unit orientation plus a week of hospital orientation with mandatory daily class attendance
  • Navy/white scrub color requirement
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose employment history for facility approval
  • Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel status, not both
  • Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
  • Up to 7 days RTO auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during first week of assignment
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Pre-start modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online prior to start and annually
