DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.
Details- Medical Surgical - Neuro unit caring for neuro surgical procedure and neuro diagnosis patients
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with flexibility to discuss
- Float requirement applies
- Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC systems
- Assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, may be required to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters, with possible reassignment to other units mid-contract
- Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for submission)
- BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Experience with telemetry, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and peripheral IV therapy
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending OK at submission)
- Provide medical-surgical nursing care to neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients, including CVA care
- 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
- Must complete required pre-start and annual online training modules
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO capped at 7 days, with no RTO allowed during the first week and no additional RTO after signing
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel contract status
- First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration

The $1,792 weekly pay shown in this posting, along with related figures, corresponds to the higher end of this range. Weekly travel pay includes tax-free stipends per IRS guidelines. Weekly local pay is fully taxable and therefore lower due to additional employer-paid taxes and related costs.
