American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN with 2+ years of cardiac experience for a night shift hospital position requiring a NC or compact RN license.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
- Supports post-procedural care including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, post cath, post DCCV, and post EP procedures
- Utilizes equipment such as Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
- Sheath management and removal required
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- EPIC charting system used, experience preferred
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week
- Longer contracts through 2/27/2027 will be accepted
- Weekend coverage required, 4 shifts per 4-week period
- Floating required as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs acceptable at submission)
- BLS and ACLS certification required, NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
- MS/Tele or Step-down experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and central line care preferred
- Arterial line management preferred
- Radial artery line experience preferred
- Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
- Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with sheath removal and TR band use
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 12 months highly preferred at submission (pending references acceptable)
- Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- 24-hour unit orientation provided
- Must complete pre-start and annual online learning modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
- Scrub requirement: navy blue pants and white top
- Must be willing to work holidays and work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval
- No RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
- First-time travelers accepted if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility rehire approval required
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
