American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring 2 years of cardiac nursing experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, and carotid stenosis
- Supports post-procedure care for CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/thoracic surgeries
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts ), 36 hours per week
- Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
- Weekend coverage required (4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks)
- Floating required as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication system
- Utilizes arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
- Active NC or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
- MS/Tele or Step-down experience preferred
- Experience managing sheath removal, cardiac drips, and post-cath/post-EP procedures required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management required
- Arterial line management, central line care, and radial artery line experience preferred
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references accepted at submission)
- Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Participate in emergency cardiac monitoring and response as part of a Rapid Response team
- May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty incidents
- Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly orientation sessions
- Must complete required online pre-start and annual training modules
- Scrub requirement: navy blue pants with a white top
- Must be willing to work holidays, including 2 of 3 major holidays
- RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
