Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Cardiac Telemetry unit within a PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown care environment
  • Patient ratio of 1:6, varying with acuity
  • Patient population includes atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis cases
  • Cares for patients undergoing CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/thoracic/vascular surgeries
  • Manages post-cath, post-DCCV, post-electrophysiology, and pacemaker placement patients
  • Uses arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
  • Utilizes Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (18:45-7:15), 36 hours per week
  • 13-26 week contract options available
  • Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible)
  • Floating required at unit discretion
  • 24-hour unit orientation
Requirements
  • Active NC or compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
  • First-time travelers not accepted unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, pre/post cardiac cath care, and cardiac drip management (with and without titration)
  • Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending acceptable at submission)
Additional Information
  • Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedural care for cardiac and vascular surgical patients
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
  • May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units with disclosure at submission
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • Former Novant Health/New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
  • Current travel or per diem clinicians at the facility must choose one status and cannot hold both simultaneously
