American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN with a NC or compact license and 2+ years of cardiac experience for a hospital-based rapid response unit.
Requirements- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac med/surg telemetry or step-down experience required
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and peripheral line care required; arterial and central line management preferred
- Experience with sheath removal, cardiac drip management, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias required
- Wound care/wound vac and radial artery line experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a Rapid Response setting
- Day shift, 3x12 hours from (36 hours per week)
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Weekend coverage required - 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
- Floating required as needed within or near the facility
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR for medication, documentation, and communication
- Cares for patients with Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
- Supports post-procedure patients including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, Fem-Pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/thoracic surgeries
- Utilizes special equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
- Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management
- Assist with post-cath, post-DCCV, post-electrophysiology, and pacemaker placement patients
- Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
- 24-hour unit orientation provided, with weekly orientation sessions
- Scrub requirement: navy blue pants and white top
- First-time travelers accepted only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose either travel or per diem status, not both
- Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed, with own transportation required
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Longer contracts through 2/27/2027 will be considered
