American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool position supporting ED Holding, requiring 2 years of experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15), with 36 and 48 hour contracts accepted
- ED Holding unit located within the Emergency Department, caring for patients awaiting an inpatient bed with any medical/surgical adult diagnosis
- May also care for PCU level patients
- Expected to take MS/Tele cases and float to ED and Med Surg areas as needed
- Patient ratios of 1:6-1:7 for MS/Tele and 1:3-1:4 for PCU level patients
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- Uses cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other standard monitoring equipment
- Charting and communication via Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR
- 12-hour unit orientation provided
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certification required
- ACLS preferred
- 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Prior MS/Tele and ER holding experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- CPI certification preferred
- Must be able to keep up with a fast-paced unit and 1:6-7 ratios
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula use, and non-invasive airway management
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Care for high-acuity, mixed-population patients boarding in the Emergency Department awaiting inpatient placement
- Must be able to float within or near the facility as needed
- Navy scrubs required
- Must be able to work holidays, including 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
- Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
- Local candidates accepted at a local rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, not both
- First-time travelers may be considered given at least one prior travel assignment
