American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring 2 years of cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Cardiac Telemetry unit within a Rapid Response department
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Patient population includes Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
- Unit supports post-procedural care for CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and other cardiac/thoracic/vascular surgeries
- Uses arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
- Utilizes Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
- Floating required as needed
- Weekend coverage required (4 shifts per 4 weeks)
- No on-call requirements
- Contracts of 13-26 weeks accepted
- May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
- MS/Tele or Step-down experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial and central line management, and peripheral line care
- Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips preferred
- Skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
- Radial artery line experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including post-cath, post-DCCV, and post-electrophysiology monitoring
- 24-hour unit orientation provided
- Scrub requirement: navy blue pants with white top
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO during first week of assignment
- First-time travelers accepted only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate schedules and transportation
