Facilities Technician - Parks & Landscaping

Overview

Do you enjoy working outdoors and taking pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming?

The city is looking for a Facilities Technician in their Parks and Landscaping Department to assist in the installation, inspection, and ongoing maintenance of amenities in City parks and public facilities.

• Inspect playgrounds; perform repairs and preventative maintenance; remove graffiti; clean courts; paint; collect trash; replace parts on equipment and seating areas; replenish mulch and sod; and complete inspection reports.
• Additional duties include general landscaping tasks, debris removal, assisting during natural disasters, preparing for special events, and providing support to other City departments as needed.
• Maintain designated City facilities and park areas by inspecting playgrounds and amenities to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including graffiti removal, painting, cleaning courts, marking athletic fields, and collecting trash and debris.
• Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on playground equipment, seating areas, and related facilities, including replacing parts as needed.
• Maintain landscaped areas by replacing mulch and sod and performing general landscaping duties.
• Complete required inspection reports and documentation on a weekly basis.
• Assist with irrigation, special projects, and maintenance activities as assigned.
• Support other City departments, assist with special events, and provide aid during natural disasters as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED and minimum of six months relevant experience maintaining landscapes and/or amenities

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to use an assortment of power tools used in landscape maintenance
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions
• This position will also be required to work weekends as well as before, during and after emergency situations (including inclement weather)

Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.

This position will generally work outdoors in a variety of conditions.
