SGL Carbon is looking to fill the role of quality engineer.

Summary of Job Content

A Quality Engineer with a continuous improvement focus drives product excellence and operational efficiency by identifying process bottlenecks, reducing waste, and preventing defects. They blend standard quality assurance with problem-solving methodologies like Lean Six Sigma to optimize manufacturing, streamline workflows, and enhance overall production standards.

  • Assist in ensure quality targets are met
  • Conduct testing on new parts/units per requirements (Specifications, Drawings, ANSI, EPA) as needed
  • Complete Quality Audit activities at SGL suppliers
  • Review customer requests/complaints related to Production parts
  • Aid in maintaining ISO 9001 policies & procedures
  • Manage assigned work packages
  • Monitor quality of manufacturing departments at SGL
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and events

    Assist with root cause analysis, countermeasure, & implementation for quality problems
  • Answer inspector questions on issues
  • Product and process auditing
  • Manage calibration program
Skills
  • Internal auditing experience (lead auditor preferred)
  • Experience with SPC software such as Minitab
  • Experience leading and facilitating scrap reduction projects with cross functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with advance strategy development (Shainin or DFSS preferred)
  • Able to work independently under limited supervision, and provide direction/leadership to others
  • Strengths in organization, excellent communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on a high performing team, contributing to an environment where open and honest communication is the norm.
  • Ability to build effective workplace relationships, motivate co-workers, and support co-worker development.
  • Ability to evaluate team effectiveness and improve performance.
Qualifications
  • Lean Manufacturing experience and/or Green Belt status
  • Use of statistical software (Mini tab, Excel)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a process engineering focused discipline - chemical, mechanical, materials or manufacturing engineering
  • Good written and technical communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS products
