Position Summary
Temporary research assistant in the Biology Department. Responsibilities include data entry, statistical analysis, field work, and laboratory tasks such as operating microscopes, fume hoods, and other equipment while handling biological specimens.
Job Responsibilities- Enter, manage, and analyze research data.
- Assist with field work and manage data collection protocols.
- Operate laboratory equipment, including microscopes, fume hoods, autoclaves, centrifuges, and computers.
- Handle and prepare biological specimens in a safe and compliant manner.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Basic knowledge of statistics and laboratory safety procedures.
- Ability to work an 8:00 AM–4:30 PM shift with occasional overtime or weekend work.
- Work hours and tasks may vary based on grants and principal investigators.
- Must pass criminal and sex offender background checks; may also require credit or motor vehicle checks.
$12–$17 per hour.
Temporary Position DetailsPosition is temporary, based on department needs, with a maximum of 11 consecutive months and a required 31‑day break if the assignment exceeds that length. Temporary employees are not considered permanent state employees, do not earn leave, and are subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines.
