Correctional Lieutenant II (S)
Position Number: , Grade: NC09, Salary Range: $45,431.00 – $79,504.00.
Location:
Craven Correctional Institution, Vanceboro, NC – a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center with 850 offenders.
- Provide supervision of subordinate staff.
- Conduct shift line‑ups, assign posts, and inspect personnel to ensure physical and mental readiness.
- Perform administrative duties including shift scheduling, timesheets, overtime management, and employee appraisals.
- Ensure safety and sanitation compliance with DAC policy and OSHA standards.
- Account for persons and assets, ensuring all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
- Identify training needs and coordinate delivery of training to subordinate staff.
- Handle disciplinary charges, incident reports, and OSI internal investigations.
- Ensure the safety, security, and welfare of staff and the offender population.
- High School or GED diploma and 2½ years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant or Correctional Sergeant II, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligibility for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
- Completion of a criminal background check, negative drug screening, medical and psychological evaluations, and possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: documented knowledge of facility operations, prison policies and procedures, and supervisory skills in a prison facility.
