The Security Guard position is a Non‑Sworn position responsible for patrolling the buildings and grounds of UNCW main campus and other properties owned or leased by UNCW to ensure safety for faculty, staff, students and guests. Responsibilities include conducting foot patrols, locking/unlocking facilities, identifying security risks, responding to calls for service, fire alarms, assisting police officers, pedestrians, enforcing parking violations and other duties as assigned.
The role also involves training new guards, directing traffic during events, assisting visitors, escort services, crime prevention programming and other duties as required. Position may require traveling between UNCW properties.
- Conduct foot patrols of buildings and grounds.
- Lock/unlock facilities per schedule.
- Identify security risks and notify appropriate parties.
- Respond to service calls, fire alarms.
- Assist police officers and pedestrians.
- Enforce parking violations.
- Assist in training new Security Guards.
- Direct traffic at events.
- Provide escort services.
- Implement Crime Prevention Programming.
Possible shifts: 3pm‑11pm, 3pm‑9pm, 5pm‑11pm, 11pm‑7am.
As needed shifts: 7pm‑7am, 7am‑7pm.
Work Days: 7 days a week.
Hours per week: up to 40.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience handling emergency situations.
- Valid N.C. driver's license with no major violations within past 3 years.
- Reliable transportation.

Compensation$15.00 - $16.00 per hour.
