Working Title Detective (Assistant Police Supervisor I, II or III) (POOLED POSTING)

Assistant Police Supervisors are police officers with an advanced level of training and experience per the Law Enforcement EHRA guidelines. Assistant Police Supervisors may be assigned to multiple roles within the department to include patrol officer, detective, crime analyst and records manager, community engagement coordinator, training coordinator, recruitment officer, and others. The responsibilities of these roles are detailed in Police Department Organizational Procedures.

Specific positions may require working in an on-call rotation. Absent selection for a specialized placement, Assistant Police Supervisors are assigned to patrol, however all sworn police officers are line personnel first. Even in a specialized position, personnel may be deployed/requested to assist in the field based on the operational needs of the department and may fulfill other law enforcement or administrative duties as assigned.

Police Officers are responsible for enforcing state and local laws and campus regulations. Employees are empowered with full law enforcement authority and are charged with the responsibility of apprehension of criminal offenders, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement and serving of warrants and summons. Officers have jurisdiction on all property that is owned, operated and/or controlled by the university.
