Monday – Friday.
Hours:
7:00 am – 4:00 pm, with rotating on‑call duty. 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week). 12 months per year.
The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for servicing and repairing heating, air conditioning, ventilation systems, and associated pumps, motors, seals, valves, controls, refrigeration, condenser, chill water and hot water piping, and other mechanical devices. The mechanic will be required to use electronic devices such as computers, tablets, and smart phones.
This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions, even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow, ice and/or debris removal under the direction of a supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Education, Professional Skills and Experience- 5 years of field experience in the mechanical and/or HVAC trades.
- Higher education and/or experience in facilities maintenance or graduation from HVAC/refrigeration trade school.
- Graduation from a certified HVAC program.
- A valid North Carolina driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within two weeks of hiring.
- EPA CFC certification for refrigerant recovery.
Recruitment range: $47,263 – $52,514. Final salary offers will be based on education, experience, equity, and budget.
