We are currently seeking an experienced:

STRUCTURED CABLING APPRENTICE

Full Time, Days

JOB SUMMARY:

  • All tasks will be performed under the direction of a Physical Cabling Technician or the Physical Cabling Supervisor
  • Installation of new data cable, phone cable and associated hardware including testing, labeling, and cable certifications
  • Assist with inspection of work performed by contractors at new facilities
  • Terminating and testing new cable, including block and patch panel punch downs
  • Testing and troubleshooting faulty cable
  • Cross-connecting circuits using patch panels
  • Maintaining core data center infrastructure; following BICSI and organization standards
  • Participates in activities to include overseeing network cabling design, new product testing, infrastructure upgrades, and technical support.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network infrastructure problems including, if necessary, wire maps and POE testing.
  • Help keep company standards up to date with the current BICSI code.
  • Training to consult with department heads and staff by assessing needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Structured cabling apprentice will become knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations through training, as well as learn technical skills and knowledge of the telecommunications industry and installations, including voice, data, and video structured cabling systems.
  • Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent combination of education and experience
  • No prior experience is required, but a demonstrated interest in structured cabling or telecommunications is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
