The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department openings for a Solid Waste Collector Driver.
The work involves the responsibility for collecting and transporting solid waste and/or recyclable materials from residential and commercial properties, which may include operating automated side loader, front-end loaders, rear loaders, and other vehicles that require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class
B.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a Unit Supervisor with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision or acting as a lead worker may be a responsibility of this class depending on the assignment. Does related work as required.
This distinct classification requires a CDL Class B driver’s license.

Requirements- This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required.
- Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse clearance is required.
- Fitness for Duty Assessment is required.
- Background check required.
- Recent MVR required.
- Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND two (2) years of related experience in the operation of solid waste collection or sanitation vehicles.
- Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of North Carolina.
- All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of the FMCSA Clearinghouse and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
- This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required.
- A Fitness for Duty Assessment is required.
