Heavy Tow Operator - Leland / Wilmington, NC

Phillips Towing Service Company is seeking a dependable Heavy Tow Operator to join our team. A valid CDL is required
, and heavy-duty towing or recovery experience is strongly preferred
. Candidates must live within 20 minutes of Leland or Wilmington, North Carolina
. This position provides critical towing and recovery services throughout Eastern North Carolina.

Job Requirements:
  • Valid CDL (NC Class A REQUIRED)

  • Must live within 20 minutes of Leland or Wilmington, NC

  • Heavy tow or recovery experience (REQUIRED)

  • Wreck master Training preferred
  • Clean driving record

  • No felony convictions (to meet Hazmat requirements)

  • Ability to pass a DOT physical, DOT drug screen, Clearinghouse query, and comply with FMCSA regulations

  • Willingness to work a rotating on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and after-hours

Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy-duty tow trucks and recovery equipment safely and efficiently

  • Perform vehicle recoveries and transports with a strong focus on safety and professionalism

  • Load, unload, and properly secure vehicles and equipment for transport

  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies

  • Provide excellent customer service during roadside and emergency situations

  • Perform winch-outs, recoveries, and other towing-related services as needed

  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely

Additional Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating manual transmission vehicles

  • Strong backing and equipment positioning skills

  • Mechanical knowledge and experience with vehicle systems preferred

  • Experience operating heavy equipment and multiple vehicle types is an advantage

  • Strong communication, time management, and self-discipline skills
