The mission of the DHHS Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) is to enable people who are blind and visually impaired in North Carolina to achieve their independent living and employment goals. The primary purpose of the Business Enterprises Program (BEP) is to provide employment opportunities for legally blind individuals through the establishment of food service and vending facilities on government and private properties.

These facilities are managed through agreements with the Division by trained and licensed blind entrepreneurs. The BEP administers the Randolph‑Sheppard Act and applicable state statutes, which grant priority to blind vendors in the operation of retail facilities on government properties.

• Receive, distribute, and store Business Enterprises (BE) food service and vending equipment.
• Assign duties to the warehouse assistant as the warehouse manager.
• Assign an asset tag to all received equipment and enter it into inventory.
• Distribute equipment per ongoing projects or operational needs and store it to ensure accessibility, accountability, and future use.
• Identify surplus equipment, coordinate monthly disposal, and schedule delivery and setup of newly acquired equipment with vendors.
• Provide operator training when necessary and arrange pickup of broken or no longer needed equipment.
• Respond to requests from BE Consultants for equipment replacement and maintain accurate records for performance evaluation and warranty follow‑up.

• Minimum education and experience:
  High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to operate a pallet jack, forklift, and other equipment used to move materials.
• Must have the ability to drive a 26‑foot truck.

• Demonstrated experience working in a warehouse environment.
• Experience in the vending and/or food service industry.
• Experience, through professional or lived involvement, working with or supporting

Must be able to safely lift more than 50 lbs and to sit, squat, lift, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lay down as needed for the job.

$31,200.00 – $49,340.00.
