About the RoleOur client, a global leader in manufacturing innovative safety and industrial solutions
, is seeking a Cost Accountant to support manufacturing, inventory, and operational cost analysis at their Wilmington, Ohio facility.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate product costing, inventory integrity, and operational performance reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, analytical rigor, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and finance.
What You’ll Do- Prepare, analyze, and record all manufacturing and inventory-related transactions
- Review standard versus actual costs and analyze price and usage variances
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform monthly inventory reconciliations
- Prepare weekly manufacturing efficiency and productivity reports
- Develop operational and performance reports, including:
- Rework analysis
- Scrap trend analysis
- Warranty analysis
- Sales and margin analysis
- (Reports include data, graphs, and written commentary)
- Perform variance analysis and report significant findings to management
- Process engineering change requests and ensure accuracy of cost revisions
- Analyze bills of materials (BOMs) for costing accuracy and proper item coding
- Prepare, analyze, and record fixed asset-related entries
- Assist with budgeting and standard cost updates
- Conduct audits of the cycle counting process
- Support year-end and interim financial audits
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the finance and operations teams
- Direct impact on manufacturing efficiency and cost optimization
- High visibility with plant leadership and cross-functional teams
- Hands-on ownership of inventory, costing, and operational analytics

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices
- Advanced analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- High integrity and the ability to handle confidential financial information
- Experience working with MRP systems
- Manufacturing industry accounting experience
- Demonstrated problem-solving and continuous process improvement mindset
