Working under general supervision of the Team Leader, Depot, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, the Senior Technician is responsible for upgrading, configuring, testing, troubleshooting and repairing computer equipment with an emphasis on a specific area of expertise. The Senior Technician is responsible for all aspects of improving team technical skills and performance. This position will provide training for their specific area of expertise to other technicians.
This position will serve as the principal technical advisor for a specific area of expertise. This position will conduct briefings and participate in technical and managerial meetings concerning both general operations and specific issues.
- Upgrades, configures, tests, troubleshoots and repairs computer systems, including servers with an emphasis on a specific area of expertise. Installs operating systems and other applications.
- Technical support of other technicians.
- Uses their advanced knowledge to help prepare other technicians to gain new knowledge so that they may perform their duties more efficiently. Helps to prepare technicians to achieve industry certifications.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux and Apple operating systems.
- Ability to read basic schematics.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Must meet all vendor training and certification requirements within their specific area of expertise.
- Has a goal of maintaining the department quality numbers as well as maintaining a minimal level of backlog.
- Ability to increase the overall productivity of the department.
- Articulate with ability to express oneself clearly and professionally in written and oral communication.
- Ability to work independently is a very important part of this job.
- Detail oriented with item-by-item focus, meticulous attention to detail with ability to proofread for accuracy.
- CompTIA A+ certification;
Advanced Industry certifications are preferred.
