Hours: 6:15 a.m. – 6:45 p.m.
Compensation: $29.00–$36.50 an hour.
We are looking for a Lead Extrusion Technician for our B Crew PVC Department. The AZEK Company/Timber Tech Wilmington division is seeking an Extrusion Technician Lead for the PVC Plant. The Extrusion Technician Lead is responsible for providing technical guidance and support to the Extrusion Operators within their designated shift and will fill in for the Production Supervisor.
Core Responsibilities- Contribute to accident free operations and compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
- Provide continuous training, technical guidance, and support to Extrusion Operators.
- Own and manage SUR (Scrap/Utilization/Rate) metrics and quality results.
- Lead plant-wide production and workplace efficiency methodologies such as 6S, TPM, SMED.
- Act as first responder for process troubleshooting to drive improvements.
- Audit operator reports for details.
- Audit process set point control.
- Ensure audit Bills of Process and Standard Operating Procedures are utilized and improved when necessary.
- Act as primary contact with Process Technician for issues/projects, Quality team for product quality issues, and Maintenance Technician for improvements and work order completion.
- Execute minor maintenance and assist Maintenance Technician if necessary.
- Serve as a key contributor to line commissioning after maintenance/process events.
- Fill in when Supervisor is not present on shift, performing job and duties of Supervisor when needed.
- Guide and mentor other Extrusion Techs on shift to perform job successfully.
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience, preferred.
- Significant experience running an extrusion line.
- Meet qualification and certification requirements established by Timber Tech’s Training Resources and Knowledge (TRAK) program.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; understand manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Self‑directed and motivated, able to multi‑task in fast‑paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Work schedule flexibility, with advance notice, to accommodate business needs.
- Read, write, and understand English.
- Perform physical demands of the job including pushing, pulling, lifting, manipulating 10–100 lbs.
- Stand for complete shift; kneel, lift overhead, bend, climb, and crawl often required.
- Work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures can become very hot depending on the weather.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
