Aircraft Structures Apprenticeship

The Structures Trainee position participates in a formal 14‑week structures training program, requiring consistent classroom attendance, participation, and completion of assigned projects. Participants develop and demonstrate structural repair skills necessary to qualify for the second phase of On‑the‑Job training as an Aircraft Structures Apprentice.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic mechanical skills/aptitude
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand and effectively communicate in English
• Demonstrated experience exhibiting fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and attention to detail
• Demonstrated problem‑solving and creative thinking skills
• Demonstrated reliability and dependability
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and interpret diagrams
• Desire to learn a trade
• Willingness to practice safe work procedures
• Ability to precisely manipulate hand tools in a variety of situations
• Basic computer proficiency to enable access to digital manuals, training materials, regulations, etc.

• Previous work experience in a maintenance or skilled trade environment
• Previous experience interpreting diagrams and technical documentation or directions
• Previous experience using hand tools

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to fit in tight places
• Ability to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and climb and sustain those positions for extended periods
• Ability to work in confined spaces with respiratory equipment
• Ability to work at heights up to 80 feet
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to work with arms raised above head and perform repetitive tasks and motions
• Near‑sight acuity, hand/eye coordination, good oral communication, depth perception, field of vision
