Job Overview

As a Technician at Penske, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a modern fleet of vehicles. You will keep customers’ vehicles in shape and on the road.

Shift

Sun‑Thurs 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers with little or no supervision.
  • Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Keeping the work area clean and safe.
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
  • Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training.
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
  • 3 years of practical experience in vehicle maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred).
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Problem‑solving ability.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Teamwork ability.
  • Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to comply with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance required.
  • Current driver qualification file maintained; CDL holders require DOT drug screening and FMCSA clearance.
  • Willingness to travel within the district and complete background and drug screening.
Physical Requirements
  • Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • Use hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, and operate tools or controls.
  • Work safely at heights with ladders and platforms.
  • Work safely in all weather conditions.
  • See and hear to navigate the work environment safely.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly; up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally; push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs.
