Job Summary
Maintain and enforce parking ordinances to assist in providing parking for citizens and visitors. This position involves operating an electric vehicle, issuing citations, managing parking meter collections, preparing reports, and providing customer service.
The hiring range for this position is $37,029.36 (minimum salary) to $50,972.15 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications.

Major Duties- Operate and maintain an electric GEM vehicle to mark vehicles and issue citations in timed parking zones and metered spaces; report faulty meters to the meter technician.
- Enter citations into computer systems.
- Retrieve license plate ownership information from the DMV computer; print late notices and prepare them for mailing.
- Print daily wheel‑lock lists for violators; place wheel locks on appropriate automobiles.
- Collect money from meters; count, bag, and deposit coins.
- Process criminal history reports as requested by officers.
- Attend Parking Board meetings.
- Provide customer service to citizens in and around Wilson Police headquarters.
- Perform other related duties as needed by the department.
- Guidelines include the city parking regulations and supervisory instructions; they are generally clear and specific but may require interpretation in application.

Education/Experience Requirements- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school‑level or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience in a similar position, typically one to two years, or completion of an apprenticeship/internship related to the major duties.
- Knowledge of city geography and related parking ordinances.
- Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
- Skill in operating a computer and modern office equipment.
- Skill in operating, inspecting, and maintaining a 4‑wheel GEM electric vehicle, golf cart, or ATV.
- Skill in preparing reports and entering data.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Work is typically performed in an office or outdoors in cold or inclement weather, involving sitting, standing, or stooping.
- Primary work hours reflect posted parking regulations, with flexibility as needed by the department.
