Position: Agribusiness and Career Pathways Coordinator (grant-funded)

Agribusiness & Career Pathways Coordinator

The Agribusiness & Career Pathways Coordinator serves as a bridge between Wilson Community College, local industry, and prospective students. This position focuses on strengthening the Agribusiness program while supporting workforce development initiatives across Applied Technologies. Responsibilities include student recruitment, career exploration, industry partnerships, and coordination of work-based learning experiences. The coordinator also supports grant reporting, outreach efforts, and student engagement initiatives such as summer camps and career events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and Manage Partnerships:
    Proactively identify, recruit, and maintain partnerships with agricultural, biotechnology, and other high-demand industry employers to support workforce development, student placement, and program growth.
  • Coordinate Work-Based Learning:
    Assist in the development and coordination of internships, job shadowing, and apprenticeship opportunities, serving as a liaison between students, employers, and the College to ensure meaningful and compliant experiences.
  • Student Recruitment and Outreach:
    Plan and conduct outreach activities with local high schools and community partners to promote Agribusiness and Applied Technologies programs, including classroom presentations, career fairs, and campus events.
  • Career Exploration and Advising Support:
    Assist prospective and current students with basic advising needs by providing information on programs, career pathways, and workforce opportunities, and connecting students to appropriate college resources.
  • Support Summer Camps and Youth Programming:
    Assist in the planning and implementation of summer camps and other youth engagement initiatives related to agriculture and applied technologies.
  • Grant Reporting and Program Support:
    Assist with data collection, documentation, and reporting requirements for grants and special projects; support program marketing and outreach efforts tied to grant initiatives.
  • Coordinate Career Exploration Events:
    Organize and support career exploration activities such as workshops, guest speakers, industry tours, and program showcases to increase student engagement and awareness of career opportunities.
  • Marketing and Recruitment Support:
    Represent the College at recruitment events, industry meetings, and community functions to promote programs and increase enrollment.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to support students through basic advising and career exploration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Education and Experience Required
  • Associate's degree in Agribusiness, Business, Workforce Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional experience in workforce development, career counseling, recruitment, sales, or industry partnership/liaison management.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness, Business, Workforce Development, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating and leading student events, outreach activities, or workshops.
  • Knowledge of the North Carolina Community College System curriculum structure and articulation agreements.
