The Director of Clinical Simulation for the School of Health Sciences will lead and manage the clinical simulation program while teaching in the Nursing program and will hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing, based on prior experience.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching students in a liberal arts setting. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student recruitment, maintaining a program of active student engagement, meaningful participation in the life of the School of Health Sciences and Barton College, and a commitment to active contributions in the profession. These contributions may include mentoring of student projects, development of pedagogy that engages students and fosters deep learning and applying simulation to real-world clinical scenarios.
EssentialFunctions
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Clinical Simulation program, including lab operations, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Teach coursework in the Nursing program, with a focus on simulation-based education.
- Sustain currency and relevancy through professional engagement and industry partnerships.
- Develop, implement, assess, and refine simulation scenarios aligned with nursing curricula and accreditation standards.
- Mentor and advise faculty on simulation pedagogy and best practices.
- Collaborate with Nursing and Health Science faculty to integrate simulation into clinical and didactic courses.
- Support student recruitment including participation at on-campus open houses and development of program promotion materials.
- Maintain currency in simulation standards through professional engagement, development, and clinical partnerships.
- Display strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to working with students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
- Masters degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, Healthcare Simulation, or closely related field (terminal degree preferred).
- An active RN license and relevant clinical experience.
- A demonstrated ability to deliver applied learning experiences including hands‑on simulation with current technologies.
- Special interests and experiences in teaching other subjects compatible with the Nursing program and the needs of the School of Health Sciences will be considered.
- Certification in healthcare simulation, or willingness to obtain.
- Demonstration of excellence in teaching and simulation facilitation, including debriefing.
- Proficiency with simulation including high‑fidelity mannequins and virtual/augmented reality.
- Ability to develop curriculum for simulation-based programming (i.e., certificates and micro‑credentials).
- Collaborative disposition with a commitment to service and leadership.
- Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning, and organizing of course & simulation objectives.
- Demonstrated comfort applying simulation tools in clinical decision‑making contexts.
