Job DescriptionThe STEM Lab Facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing STEM activities for classes of students in Grades K-5. The facilitator will collaborate with classroom teachers to plan learning activities that foster 21st century skills.
Qualifications/Licensure- High School Diploma and a minimum of 48 semester hours or an Associate’s Degree
- Classroom experience or experience working with children
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Monitors the safety and well‑being of students.
- Encourages student attitudes, self‑esteem, and confidence in STEM topics.
- Assists students as they explore STEM lessons and their connections to 21st-century skills.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers to plan appropriate STEM lessons and activities.
- Assists in implementing an inquiry-based, multimedia learning environment with real‑world applications and hands‑on experiences designed to enhance K‑5 students’ skill sets.
- Attends workshops and training as necessary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Regular speaking and hearing; repetitive hand motions; frequent sitting, occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Standard vision requirements.
- Vocal communication required for expressing or exchanging ideas.
- Hearing required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Preparation and analysis of written or computer data; operating machines and motor vehicles or equipment; observing general surroundings and activities.
- Proficiency with technology equipment and various software applications.
- Ability to model technology integration in all curriculum areas.
- Understanding of math and science curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Assistance to teachers in implementing effective instruction in math and other STEM areas.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and excellent presentation skills.
- Project management ability.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school and district personnel.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
