What You’ll Do
- Leadership & Performance Management:
You will lead engineering team members to cover multiple plants, oversee Project Engineering teams, manage direct reports from diverse disciplines, ensure priority projects and capital plans are properly resourced, guide equipment comparison tests, FATs/SATs, master plans, and research new equipment opportunities, and collaborate with the Infrastructure Group to execute plant utilities and process discipline. - Strategic Oversight & Continuous Improvement:
You will manage an annual capital budget of up to $50mm, partner with Plant Operations and Maintenance leadership to identify and implement performance‑boosting strategies, drive continuous improvement initiatives across multiple plants, maintain a culture of cost savings and process optimization, and refine the Engineering Excellence assessment process. - Technical & Operational Excellence:
You will provide technical leadership in developing and implementing production technologies, ensure plant teams have troubleshooting capability for major outages and complex equipment issues, drive clarity in engineering standards and scheduling, and develop programs, policies and practices that ensure safe, high‑quality food production meeting regulatory standards. - Compliance &
Risk Management:
You will keep M&E programs, policies and procedures up‑to‑date, execute cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues, and maintain high standards for Quality, Food Safety and Safety Systems. - Employee Development & Team Leadership:
You will lead, inspire and develop high‑performing engineering teams, provide clear direction, partner with HR to deploy leadership development opportunities, drive performance management, build a diverse and engaged workforce, and foster a culture of safety, open communication and employee recognition.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership.
- Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
- Project Management, Contract Administration, national codes and standards interpretation skills.
- Proficiency in engineering economics, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel to other locations (≈50% of the time).
- Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry.
- Experience managing multi‑million dollar projects with large scopes.
- Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Respectful, approachable, team‑oriented, and capable of building strong working relationships.
- Excellent written and oral communication, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
- Overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Supporting interviewing and hiring of skilled trade employees, training of these employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
