Collins Aerospace is looking for a Mechanical Repair Technician III (Avionics) to join our team, for our Wilson, NC location. In this role, you are responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and repair of units. Ensure work is accomplished with high quality, in a timely fashion and is compliant with all company and federal regulations.
This is a 1st shift position with the following hours:
Monday-Friday; 6:00AM – 2:30PM (overtime may be required)
- Test products for load capabilities, mechanical characteristics, polarity, voltage, amperage, inductance, shorts, grounds, circuits continuity and physical properties.
- Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits. This position requires troubleshooting to the component level.
- Perform routine repair activities on avionics equipment including surface mount and thru hole solder repair.
- Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, International Trade Compliance and Human Resources. - Complete assigned tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department goals and objectives.
- Check work methods and results for conformance to standards.
- Report to leader or supervisor on work progress and updates including conditions surrounding failures to meet quality standards.
- Manage all aspects related to the process of repairs through the service center including receiving, inspection, cleaning, tear-down, documentation, repair, reassembly and packaging of parts for return to the customer.
- Comply with EH&S policies and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Attend EH&S trainings as required.
- Report unsafe practices and/or conditions to the appropriate individuals to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.

Work Environment Requirements :- Frequent standing, sitting, stooping.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, crouching, reaching.
- How to properly complete testing, troubleshooting, and repair units on avionics equipment.
- How to complete the process of repair: receive, inspect, clean, tear-down, documentation, repair, reassembly and packaging of parts.
- Broad exposure to testing products.
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in electronics, within a manufacturing or service environment.
Notice: This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.
Qualifications We Prefer- AAS degree in Electronics
- Prior military experience
- Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers including triggering, waveform capture and comparisons.
- Knowledge of electronic theory including microprocessor-based products.
- Give direction and guidance in electronic troubleshooting techniques and repair.
- Interpret schematics and/or technical drawings.
- Intermediate computer skills in terms of typing, navigating screens and learning new software programs.
