Position: Field Safety Consultant - OSHA 30 required

Position Summary

This is a 12‑month contracted position located in Wilson, NC. Candidates must be local. The role is full‑time, requires willingness to work different shifts, and involves up to 80% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to all Exceed Safety LLC and client employees.
  • Supervise field safety compliance by ensuring adherence to labor safety policies.
  • Conduct safety classes and new‑hire safety orientations.
  • Ensure compliance with all county, state, and federal DOT requirements.
  • Engage in educational training sessions to enhance job knowledge.
  • Inspect working conditions at manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and company/client requirements.
  • Perform safety audits, job hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
  • Advise and assist in developing and implementing plans, policies, procedures, and guidelines to align safety programs with company and site goals.
  • Assist with incident investigation processes to ensure thorough investigations, provide resolutions, and issue reports.
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
Competencies – Basic
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong vision for safety.
  • Demonstrates a flexible, positive ‘can do’ approach to delivering team results.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Occupational, Health & Safety sciences or minimum of five years experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety position; technical writing a plus.
  • Strong time‑management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, be resourceful, and use sound judgment and tact.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
  • Work is conducted in both indoor office settings and outdoor jobsite settings; environmental conditions will vary.
Physical Demands
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, type, carry up to 40 lbs, push and bend. Occasional work at heights and in confined spaces may be required.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full‑time position.
  • Willing to work different shifts and travel up to 80% of the time.
  • Contract length: 1 year.
  • Pay:
    Up to $45 per hour depending on experience.
  • Per diem: $178 per day for non‑local employees located at least 50 miles away.
