Distribution Overhead Groundman

Onsite, Wilson & Tarboro, NC

The Overhead Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You willassistyour team in building, repairing, andmaintainingoverhead electrical distribution systems.

• Assist fellow line-workers in meeting project goals
• Join storm restoration efforts in times of need
• Follow company safety rules and policies while performing new construction or maintenance of energized high voltage systems and de-energized overhead work
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and wearitproperly.
• String overhead wire, set poles and anchors
• Help install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches, and switch gear
• Help replace fusesintransformers and clear faulty circuits and systems
• Maintain andoperatecompany vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Perform rigorous physical labor
• Use company radio
• Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying
• Receive and follow directions
• Have a basic knowledge of materials used in line work
• Identifyprimary and secondary voltage on a circuit
• Perform basic bucket rescue/escape
• Work at heights and confined spaces

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you talk and hear. The jobfrequentlyrequires you to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you arefrequentlyexposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanicalpartsand vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. An employee performs this position in outside-weather conditions.

• Must have Valid Driver's License.
• Able to travel long distances at short notice.

• Able to lift an excess of 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.
