Electrical Superintendent
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating field installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems on active job sites. This role leads crews to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities of I&C technicians and electricians in the field.
- Plan, assign, and monitor work related to instrumentation and control systems.
- Interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, loop drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate installation of instruments, control panels, junction boxes, and tubing.
- Oversee terminations, calibrations, loop checks, and functional testing.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and project procedures.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, General Foremen, and other trades on site.
- Track labor productivity and report progress to project leadership.
- Identify and resolve field issues, material needs, and constructability concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation, redlines, and daily reports.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls, preferably within an electrical subcontracting environment.
- Previous foreman or lead experience supervising field teams in industrial instrumentation, control wiring, and calibration practices.
- Ability to read and interpret I&C drawings and technical documentation.
- Solid understanding of OSHA safety requirements and electrical codes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience on industrial, manufacturing, utility, or process-driven projects.
- Familiarity with PLC, DCS, or SCADA systems.
- Formal apprenticeship or technical training in instrumentation or electrical systems.
Work Environment
This is a field-based role on active construction sites, which may require working outdoors, extended hours, or travel depending on project needs. The role involves working with construction, electrical, and instrumentation systems, with a focus on OSHA compliance and safety standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Wilson, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Union Benefits Pension, Truck, Gas Card.
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Wilson, NC.
