Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician

Job Type: Non-Exempt

Pay:
Competitive Hourly – 2nd Shift

We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will travel with maintenance supplies to dispersed equipment and perform on‑site maintenance activities on all machinery and vehicles, from heavy‑lift equipment to light‑duty trucks. Your duties will include monitoring inventory, inspecting vehicles, and performing preventative maintenance. The role is planned for off‑shift work and may include nights and weekends.

To succeed, you should be physically and mentally fit and have solid knowledge of basic mechanical tools, service, and diagnostic equipment. Our ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate within our organization to coordinate and schedule PM activities efficiently.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate and inspect machines or vehicles to diagnose defects or functionality problems, alerting clients on issues that would prevent vehicles from passing inspection.
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records in written or electronic form.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
  • Operate individually and within a team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, company policies and procedures; perform daily equipment inspections and identify or correct unsafe conditions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of journeyman‑level mechanic experience.
  • In‑depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and aptitude for problem solving.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical requirements:

    standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping, squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements, wrist flexing, use of both hands and feet, and extended periods in the same position.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, heights, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a background/MVR check and pre‑employment drug test.
Additional Qualifications
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification.
  • Experience repairing hydraulic systems on fleet vehicles.
  • Certification for aerial device maintenance.
Physical Requirements

  • Constantly: seeing.
Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordination of equipment and tools, maintain attention and concentration, withstand various weather conditions, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, enter and exit vehicles, traverse various terrain, endure a standard 8‑ or 10‑hour day, and communicate clearly.

Employees must also read, write, and comprehend job instructions.
