We are seeking a self‑motivated Firmware Electrical Engineer as a hands on individual contributor, one that is ready to expand their technical knowledge working on complex system designs. As a Firmware Electrical Engineer, you will work closely with multi‑disciplinary teams designing, developing, verifying, and documenting complex Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). These components will be implemented for use in airborne high‑definition video processing, high‑speed digital interfaces, and system control applications.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Working closely with Product management and business development to help define our products.
- Translates project and system requirements into well‑defined designs.
- Collaboratively work with cross‑functional teams from Product, Software, Mechanical and Systems Engineering.
- Hands‑on debug and testing of prototypes and deliverable hardware.
- Release documentation into production for manufacturing.
- Supporting product introduction into production.
- Solving complex problems and finding solutions with limited direction – contributes to requirements development, proposes ways forward, and adapts appropriately to changes in requirements.
- Able to manage a task with multiple cross functional members and effectively communicate status to project leadership and customers.
- Xilinx FPGA design and development using the Vivado Design Suite and IP Integrator.
- Simulation and troubleshooting of Xilinx FPGA designs and digital interface circuitry.
- Xilinx FPGA configuration, SERDES, and memory interfaces.
- High‑speed synchronous memory subsystems (DDR3/4 SDRAM and SSRAM).
- Ability to integrate third part intellectual property.
- C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Excellent team skills and the ability to work within a diverse group across multiple sites.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, highly motivated, and self‑directed.
- Ability to effectively multi‑task and manage prioritized design tasks.
- PC skills including Linux, Windows, MS Office.
- Intel SPG FPGAs and Quartus II development software.
- DSP and image processing algorithms.
Bachelor’s Degree in electrical and/or computer engineering.
ExperienceA minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering with a focus on FPGA design and development.
