Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Buyer.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $71,000 – $105,000 a year. This position also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, and market and business considerations.
What you’ll do:The Buyer supports Eaton’s supply‑chain purchasing department by owning a product line. The role leads cost‑reduction projects, quality and delivery initiatives, and performs administrative functions related to ordering and expediting material to meet the production schedule. The Buyer also manages inventory to meet plant financial and safety objectives.
Job responsibilities- Negotiate prices, terms, delivery, and conditions of purchase from suppliers for a variety of assigned commodities.
- Responsible for all material orders for assigned product lines, including managing both internal and external vendors.
- Handle escalations of past‑due purchase orders and coordinate with vendors to identify root causes of OTP (On‑Time Performance) issues and mitigate future OTP issues.
- Drive fast‑response to last‑minute material needs and follow‑up to determine root cause and corrective action to sustain improvements.
- Initiate and drive the DMR (Discrepant Material Report) process so vendors receive feedback on issues and work toward root cause.
- Perform daily inventory efforts, including adjustments, stock checks, Kanban changes and Kanban charge‑outs for internal/external vendors (scan/verify quantity).
- Provide daily up‑to‑date material status on orders to production staff and management.
- Lead inventory efforts (with support from Power Center management) for the location, facilitating meetings, distribution of inventory materials, ensuring compliance with inventory procedures to meet Days on Hand (DOH) objectives.
- Coordinate communication between engineering, operations, planners and suppliers to ensure pertinent information is disseminated accurately and efficiently.
- Implement cost‑out initiatives, including premium freight reduction and inventory optimization.
- Maintain good working relationships with customers, distributors, sales, supply chain and internal plant personnel to support quality customer service efforts.
- Interface with suppliers as a representative of Eaton to provide a favorable corporate image.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in customer service, administrative or supply‑chain role.
- 1+ year experience working in a Kanban system.
- 1+ year experience using Microsoft Office.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- Position limited to candidates within a 50‑mile radius of the facility; no relocation benefit is offered. Active‑Duty military service members are exempt from the geographical limitation.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior experience with Oracle, AS400, Vista and Infor.
- Knowledge of quality processes (RMR, CQM, control plans, PFMEA, MSA, audits, inspections, calibrations, etc).
- Knowledge of Enovia.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Problem‑solving skills, including root‑cause analysis.
- Prior sourcing experience.
- APICS certification.
- Production facility environment with Personal Protective Equipment requirements including safety shoes, protective eyewear, and high‑visibility vest. Closed non‑temperature‑controlled environment.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds per person and 70 pounds with a buddy lift; bend, twist, grab, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, use both hands to lift and lower materials, and perform all other essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
