Production Manager, Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma, Quality Engineering
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct the development and implementation of activities in production areas to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives
- Prioritize production schedules based on product build plan, equipment efficiency, and materials supply
- Administer procedures and facilitate training
- Make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct labor
- Select, evaluate, and develop personnel to ensure efficient and flexible production
- Lead subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies
- Follow established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data to obtain answers readily
- Monitor and manage daily day‑shift operations of multiple work areas
- Technical Associate Degree, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent preferred
- 3 years of high technology manufacturing experience; supervisory experience preferred
- Supervisory, coaching, and people development skills
- Ability to facilitate and influence cross‑functional problem solving and process improvement
- Ability to create, communicate, and hold subordinates accountable to expectations
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Microsoft Office application skills suitable for data analysis and reporting
- Understanding of basic Lean Manufacturing concepts such as One‑Piece Flow, 5S, TAKT
- Fact‑based problem solving, capable of separating opinion from data
- Direct experience with Oracle ERP or equivalent preferred
- Ability to evaluate individual performance and provide feedback to improve performance, teamwork, and accountability
- Experience selecting, hiring, and developing subordinates
- Demonstrated experience with performance management and providing constructive feedback
- Experience providing formal performance review feedback, including SMART goal management
- Successful facilitation of team stand‑up meetings within a production environment
- Experience attending, contributing to, and facilitating peer‑level and above status meetings
- Effective business communication skills: summarizing complex data into presentable information
- Identification and implementation of process changes to achieve business objectives
- Continual learner expanding skills
- Fundamental understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts
- Leadership in improvement in manufacturing areas; knowledge of lean tools including one‑piece flow, value stream mapping, red tag, visual pull kanban
- Personality exemplifying likability and fit within Coherent culture
Oversee daily operations within a Class 10,000 cleanroom environment, ensuring Technicians and Assemblers adhere strictly to gowning protocols, contamination control procedures, laser safety, and general safety regulations while maintaining high production quality standards.
Monitors and manages workforce activities in a controlled environment that requires extended periods of standing, attention to detail, and the use of specialized equipment, while maintaining compliance with environmental and ergonomic guidelines.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to lift 10–20 lbs. occasionally throughout the day
- Standing for multiple hours per day Sitting at workstation for multiple hours per day
