Machine Operator
This role focuses on operating and monitoring production equipment to manufacture small metal parts in a high-safety, precision-driven environment. You will work in either the Molding Department or the Second Operations (2nd Ops) Department, performing tasks such as molding, trimming, sorting, placing, and inspecting parts. The position requires mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills, and strict adherence to safety practices, including the use of safety toe shoes.
Responsibilities- Perform tasks related to the production of small metal parts, including molding, sorting, placing, and inspection activities.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of parts to identify defects using microscopes and various gauging instruments such as gauges and calipers.
- Operate a variety of finger and hand-controlled machines, including impact presses, air presses, drill presses, ream presses, CNC machines, pad printers, and gauge stampers.
- Place parts into various machines for processing, then remove finished parts and place them into totes for further handling or packaging.
- Operate molding cells that include molding machines, robots, and grinders to produce small metal components.
- Trim and place small parts on trays with attention to detail and quality standards.
- Perform green part inspections, including visual checks and weight measurements, to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Regrind feedstock as needed to support ongoing production and material reuse.
- Load and unload product carts to keep production lines supplied and maintain workflow.
- Follow all written and verbal work instructions and safety-related procedures in English.
- Communicate effectively in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
- Apply basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in support of measurements, counts, and production documentation.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and assist with machine setup and adjustments as needed to maintain efficient operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, wrenches, and other equipment appropriately and safely in support of machine operation and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines in a crowded manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical inclination and aptitude to operate and understand production machinery.
- Basic computer skills to interact with equipment interfaces and production systems.
- Ability to wear and consistently use safety toe shoes and follow all safety protocols.
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work instructions and safety procedures in English.
- Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide for basic production and inspection tasks.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections using microscopes, gauges, and calipers.
- Capability to operate various production machines, including presses, CNC machines, pad printers, and molding equipment.
- Comfort using hand tools, power tools, wrenches, and related equipment in a production setting.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with general production and machine operation in a manufacturing setting.
- Background in automotive mechanics or automotive technology, including tasks such as oil changes and use of a tool box.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints or basic technical drawings.
- Experience with machine setup and troubleshooting to support efficient production.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, wrenches, and other mechanical tools used in industrial environments.
- Comfort working with CNC machines, molding machines, robots, grinders, pad printers, and gauge stampers.
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in working with production equipment and small metal parts.
- Preferred ability to work swing or day shifts as scheduled, including four 10-hour shifts where applicable.
