Utilities Maintenance Technician – Wastewater Collections (City of Wilsonville) role description and duties.

• System Maintenance and Repair
• Equipment operation
• Properly operate and maintain all equipment required to maintain the system
• Conduct routine and emergency line cleaning of various utility assets including but not limited to sanitary mains, sanitary laterals, sanitary manholes, storm lines, storm manholes, and catch basins
• Assure the materials collected in the course of the work are disposed of in accordance with departmental policy
• Identify and repair, if necessary, storm or sewer lines, manholes, and catch basins
• Coordinate, supervise and inspect repair work; conduct oversight and inspection of contracted services as needed
• Test, monitor, and inspect
• Conduct flow monitoring, dye tests, smoke tests, and tests of drainage structures, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers
• Work with citizens and business owners concerning faulty or illegal hook-ups
• Work with Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator to report illegal discharge
• Perform Utility Locates of water, sewer, storm, and city fiber
• Emergency call-out
• Respond to emergency call outs as needed

• Oversee the day to day underground TV inspection program in conjunction with the Supervisor
• Identify problem lines and coordinate subsequent TV inspection
• Maintain records of inspection and maintenance including tracking all work within the City’s Asset Management System

• Develop and update a schedule of inspection and maintenance
• Collaborate to create, update, and maintain maps and drawings of sanitary and storm water collection systems
• Participate in plan reviews and development meetings

• Ensure safety procedures are implemented as mandated by OSH A
• Be aware of traffic when positioning and operating trucks in streets and right of ways
• Notify pretreatment and stormwater specialists of hazardous issues

• Compile data for regulatory reports (MS4, NPDES, Annual Inspection Report, etc.)
• Maintain daily records of inspections and work on sanitary and storm manholes, collection lines, catch basins, and other water collecting structures
• Keep detailed notes in the field and input data into the City’s Asset Management System

• Standards include greeting customers, gathering information, resolving issues, and communicating effectively

• Thorough knowledge of maintenance and safety standards for wastewater and stormwater systems
• Proficiency with common tools, vehicles, and power equipment
• Knowledge of traffic control and regulatory requirements
• Ability to operate traffic area construction zones and locate underground utilities
• Ability to read construction drawings and interpret specifications
• Ability to maintain accurate logs and records
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively

Work Environment:
Outdoor work in all weather, near heavy equipment and confined spaces. Physical and cognitive requirements include lifting, bending, climbing, data entry, and safe operation of tools and equipment.
