This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

The plumber coordinates, instructs, and trains skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled AIC (Adult in Custody) workers in the operation, maintenance, and repair of physical plant systems, equipment, and building structures within a correctional institution. The plumber also performs journey-level trade work.

• A valid Oregon Plumber's License. Be sure a copy of your license is attached to your application form.

• Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License

• Plumbing Installation & Replacement: Skilled in installing and replacing pipes, valves, drains, basins, tubs, faucets, lavatories, sinks, hydrants, water heaters, dishwashers, and other plumbing fixtures and equipment.
• Plumbing Repair & Maintenance: Experienced in diagnosing and repairing pipe breaks, leaks, clogged drains, water pumps, water heaters, and other plumbing system issues.
• Drain & Sewer Systems: Knowledgeable in cleaning, opening, maintaining, and troubleshooting drains, sewer lines, and related plumbing systems.
• Steam & Gas Systems: Ability to install, maintain, and repair steam and gas systems while following applicable safety procedures and requirements.
• EVAC System Maintenance: Experienced in maintaining EVAC systems and headworks, including pumps, vaults, superceptors, muffin monsters, tanks, floats, and grit disposal equipment.
• Inspection, Testing & Reporting: Capable of performing monthly, quarterly, and annual EVAC system testing, maintenance, documentation, and reporting requirements.
• Training & Instruction: Skilled in instructing and training workers on the safe and efficient use of plumbing tools, equipment, techniques, and procedures.
• Safety & Security: Knowledgeable in maintaining a safe and secure work environment, including proper control of keys, tools, equipment, and contraband to help prevent escapes.
• Supervision & Teamwork: Experienced in assisting with the supervision and direction of workers, responding appropriately to incidents, and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Professionalism & Reliability: Demonstrates responsibility, integrity, teamwork, respect for others, adaptability to constructive change, and consistent attendance.
