Instructor, Childcare Program

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Hourly position for school calendar year
• Extended Day School Programs
• Hours are: MD Before School 7:00-9:00 am, and/or MD After School 2:00 - 6:30 pm, or CM After School 1:00 – 6:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:

Create a safe, fun, and enriching before- and after-school experience for K–5 students through engaging, age-appropriate activities that inspire learning and play.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children and a genuine love for helping them learn and grow
• Great communication and teamwork skills
• A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to collaborate with instructors, parents, students, and school staff

REPORTS TO:

WCE MANAGER EXTENDED DAY CHILDCARE PROGRAMS

PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and safe
• Help maintain structure and routine in daily program activities
• Use positive guidance and redirection to support good behavior and build confidence
• Encourage and assist students as they complete fun craft projects—both individually and in groups—throughout the year
• Supervise homework and reading time for students in grades 3–5
• Spend 3 afternoons a week at the gym, leading fun gym games and keeping an eye on activities to ensure everyone stays safe and follows the rules.
• Always prioritize child safety by following WCE Policies, Procedures, and the Emergency Operations Plan
• Keep it professional while keeping student info private—because trust matters!
• Be a team player and lend a hand wherever it’s needed, helping the Lead Instructor and Program Managers keep things running smoothly

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Be ready to join the fun! Play, move, and engage with kids anywhere—on the playground, in the gym, cafeteria, or classroom.
