The Optics Fabrication group in Wilton, CT creates precision optical components for all of our DUV and EUV lithography systems. Our optics are used in various internal systems such as wafer alignment, wafer leveling, inspection, stage measurement, reticle manipulation, and metrology measurements.
The Equipment Engineering group directly supports all of Optics Fabrication by delivering safe, precise, reliable equipment with maximum uptime availability for Production to meet their quality and throughput goals. This is a large responsibility because the majority of optical fabrication processes rely on stable equipment for proper execution. An Equipment Engineer must maximize machine availability using the following skill sets:
- Proper equipment selection based on reliability and maintainability
- Creating preventative maintenance plans and supporting their execution
- Defining critical spares for quick response to unplanned downtime
- Defining standard maintenance procedures to maximize maintenance effectiveness
- Planning strategic upgrades and identifying end‑of‑life equipment
- Hands‑on support of equipment modifications and upgrades
- Assisting the Maintenance Teams with advanced troubleshooting
This experienced level engineering position will support vacuum coating and etch processes by working closely with other process engineers, technicians, machine operators, product development teams, and safety teams. The equipment base includes a large range of grinding and polishing technologies.
Education and experience- BS in an engineering discipline
- 6+ years in an optical or machine shop manufacturing role
- Deep knowledge of grinding, polishing and maintenance
- Familiarity with PLCs and machine controls
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical and software related issues
- Self‑motivation for executing independent tasks
- Prioritize safety of operators and equipment users over anything else
- Ability to tackle technical problems hands‑on
- Strong analytical skills for advanced troubleshooting
- Excellent documentation abilities to build preventative maintenance plans and spare parts lists
- Ability to clearly interface with equipment vendors and service technicians
- Strong desire to learn and grow in a challenging field
- Patience and determination to perform tasks consistently and completely
- Team‑player attitude to work within a dynamic group
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
- The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- May require travel dependent on company needs.
