Job Title: Reliability & Maintenance Engineer

Job SummaryThe Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant utility systems while supporting critical spare parts inventory management and leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations. This role combines strong technical engineering expertise with structured problem‑solving capabilities to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance overall equipment performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Utility Systems Engineering- Oversee operation, maintenance, and optimization of plant utility systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, HVAC systems, water treatment, and distribution systems
- Develop and maintain utility system SOPs, preventive maintenance strategies, and asset care standards
- Support troubleshooting efforts for utility equipment failures and provide engineering guidance to maintenance technicians
- Monitor system performance, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and safety requirements
- Provide technical support for new equipment installations, commissioning, and qualification activities
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance, operations, and equipment reliability
- Assist the Site Manager in identifying, cataloging, and managing critical spare parts for utility systems and high‑impact production equipment
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with maintaining optimized inventory levels while balancing part availability, lead times, and cost control
- Collaborate with purchasing teams to qualify vendors, secure pricing, and manage long‑lead or OEM‑specific parts
- Assist the Site Planner in developing and maintaining structured Bill of Materials (BOM) libraries within the CMMS
- Support inventory accuracy initiatives and storeroom organization efforts utilizing 5S principles
- Lead and facilitate Root Cause Analysis investigations for major equipment failures, chronic reliability issues, utility outages, and safety or environmental incidents
- Utilize structured RCA methodologies including 5‑Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, FMEA, and Fault Tree Analysis
- Develop corrective actions, long‑term engineering solutions, and reliability improvement initiatives
- Track and report failure trends, MTBF/MTTR metrics, and key reliability KPIs
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness
- Ensure all utility systems and maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements
- Support risk assessments, LOTO procedures, and engineering safety reviews
- Promote a culture focused on safe work practices and reliability excellence
- Assist with permit‑related activities as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
- 3–7 years of experience in utilities, maintenance engineering, or plant reliability roles
- Experience working with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, eMaint, or Fiix
- Experience with in manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or industrial facility environments preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical utility systems
- Knowledge of reliability engineering concepts and RCA methodologies
- Familiarity with spare parts management, BOM development, and inventory optimization
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Power Point
- Understanding of the facilities industry with an emphasis on mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to operate a personal computer, cell phone, and/or electronic tablet
- Flexibility to support non‑traditional schedules and weekend work as needed
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities
- Ability to analyze equipment failures and develop long‑term corrective solutions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams during investigations and projects
- Ability to effectively communicate project status updates and escalate issues when necessary
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and large‑scale projects simultaneously
- Track project progress and ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Self‑driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
