The WF Optics First Line Support Engineer is part of a multidisciplinary team that supports production output in the Wilton Factory. They will interact with various production teams and senior management at the Wilton, CT site.
This position requires access to controlled technology as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Job Description- Work in a hands‑on environment with technicians to troubleshoot and document interruptions on the production floor.
- Function as the initial escalation point for issues pertaining to:
- Polishing
- Machining/Generating
- Contacting
- Coating
- Bonding
- Lithography/Etching
- Interferometry
- Advanced Correction (MRF, IBF)
- Develop and implement short‑term containment and structural solutions for production issues.
- Escalate structural process or procedural issues to the Competency Production Engineering team and serve as a consultant for solution space.
- Serve in a consulting role, representing the work floor for:
- Product, process, and tool development
- Activities pertaining to excellence metrics:
- Cycle Time
- Labor Hours
- Capital Expenditures
- Lean/Value Stream Exercises
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology (Mechanical, Optical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Imaging).
- A Bachelor of Science in Physics or Chemistry also considered.
- 0–1 years of work experience in a high‑tech, production environment.
- Experience in optical fabrication/assembly processes across any/all disciplines.
- History of completing individual and team‑oriented tasks under tight deadlines.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints.
- Ability to interpret tolerances and specifications from blueprints.
- Strong sense of ownership and personal accountability.
- Adaptability to changing processes and plans in a high‑pressure, dynamic work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, identify critical content, and drive discussion/action with various stakeholders.
- The employee routinely is required to sit, walk, talk, hear, use hands to operate a keyboard, handle, and feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
- The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Travel may be required, dependent on company needs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The environment is generally moderate in temperature and noise level.
- Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
