Job Overview
Senior Manager, Product Engineering – leading the technical strategy for Spin Master’s product portfolio spanning wooden, hybrid, and multi‑material toys. Based in Connecticut, reporting to the VP of Product Development.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the senior technical leader for Product Development, establishing engineering standards, design best practices, and documentation discipline across the product lifecycle.
- Translate product and brand strategy into clear engineering roadmaps, priorities, and resourcing plans.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior leadership with recommendations on feasibility, risk, cost, and timelines.
- Remain hands‑on on critical milestones – review CAD, validate designs, solve complex technical problems, and review deliverables for accuracy, safety, manufacturability, and compliance.
- Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Brand, and Quality to turn concepts into production‑ready designs, providing cost, design, and manufacturing trade‑off options.
- Ensure all products meet or exceed global toy safety and regulatory standards (ASTM F963, CPSIA, EN71, ISO) in collaboration with Quality and Compliance teams.
- Collaborate with global manufacturing and tooling partners across Asia to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality, leading DFM/DFA reviews, tooling development, pilot runs, and production readiness.
- Guide the introduction of sustainable materials and manufacturing practices and establish metrics to measure engineering effectiveness, quality, and delivery performance.
- Deep expertise in mixed‑material products, with a strong focus on wood and plastics.
- Extensive experience working with overseas manufacturing partners, preferably in Asia.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD tools (Solid Works or equivalent), DFM/DFA, prototyping, testing, and technical documentation.
- Experience engineering high‑volume retail products.
- Strong knowledge of global toy safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and eco‑friendly materials.
- Willingness to travel internationally ~15% of the time.
- Ability to adjust working hours as needed to support collaboration with Asia‑based partners.
- Competitive salary range for Connecticut: $138,000 – $160,000 per annum.
