Equipment Engineering Manager

Roles and Responsibilities

The Equipment Engineering group directly supports all of Optics Fabrication by delivering safe, precise, reliable equipment with maximum uptime availability for Production to meet their quality and throughput goals. Optical fabrication processes rely on stable equipment for proper execution, an Equipment Engineer must maximize machine availability using the following skill sets:

  • Proper equipment selection based on reliability and maintainability
  • Creating preventative maintenance plans and supporting their execution
  • Defining critical spares for quick response to unplanned downtime
  • Defining standard maintenance procedures to maximize maintenance effectiveness
  • Plan strategic upgrades and identifying end of life equipment
  • Hands on support of equipment modifications and upgrades
  • Assisting the Maintenance Teams with advanced troubleshooting
Leadership Responsibilities

The Equipment Engineering Manager is accountable for the execution and timely completion of all work assigned to the team. The manager will establish priorities, remove barriers, and ensure engineers are effectively supporting manufacturing objectives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. AIR will serve as the system of record for equipment related work. The manager is responsible for ensuring the team adheres to established AIR processes, response expectations, closure requirements, and timing metrics.

This includes maintaining visibility of open items, driving accountability, and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner. This responsibility aligns with the organization's focus on AIR resolution and equipment performance management.

People Development

A critical aspect of this position is the development, coaching, and mentorship of Equipment Engineers. The manager will create an environment that fosters technical excellence, professional growth, and ownership while actively developing the next generation of engineering talent.

Cross-Functional Alignment

The Equipment Engineering Manager will work closely with manufacturing area owners, maintenance leadership, process engineering teams, and other stakeholders to ensure priorities, resources, and objectives remain aligned. The manager will serve as the primary interface between Equipment Engineering and supported manufacturing areas, ensuring equipment strategies directly support business goals and operational requirements.

Education and Experience

BS in an engineering

6+ years engineering experience at ASML

Direct management or project management experience preferred
