Role and Responsibilities

Primary responsibility will be to operate in a safe and efficient manner manual machine tools, miscellaneous power and hand tools, and all associated ancillary equipment for fabricating and modifying parts. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized shop, following safety guidelines, and performing tasks not directly related to machine shop operations in support of projects and production operations.

This position is located on‑site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in‑person work‑related events, inspections, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma (or GED equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience in a relevant multi‑disciplinary technical work environment.

Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in using various machine shop equipment including manual and CNC milling machines, manual and CNC lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, etc.
  • Able to read, review and develop a manufacturing plan from engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in or willingness to adopt the metric system
  • Ability to machine intricate and precise parts from a variety of materials – stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic – on typical tool‑room machine tools
  • Demonstrated skill working to close tolerances (+/- .01mm) from complicated drawings, sketches, engineering data and/or verbal instructions
  • Proficiency in computer‑aided machining, minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Proficiency in planning, set‑up, and operation of machine tools based on work orders, drawings, machining instructions to machine parts to specifications
  • Conduct inspection to confirm parts meet quality standards
  • Proficient use of various manufacturing tools and equipment:

  • Lathes
  • Drill presses
  • Grinders
