Role and Responsibilities
Shift: Back End Nights 6pm - 6am (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, alternate Wednesday)
Schedule: 12‑hour shifts, rotating 3‑4 days a week.
- Assemble cutting tools into tool‑holders and position tool‑holders in machine spindles or tool changer magazines as required.
- Manually program CNC controllers through manual data input and generated CNC programs.
- Manipulate machine controls to set up cutting tools and machine work pieces for CNC operation.
- Make tool changes and offsets to keep parts in spec and/or to compensate for tool wear.
- Follow written English work instructions that describe the process and required measurements.
- Read and interpret ISO blueprints and incorporate them into part programs.
- Measure workpiece for conformance to specifications.
- Verify settings by regularly measuring parts before and after changes are made.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to supervisors and co‑workers on other shifts.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and notifying the supervisor of discrepancies.
- Effectively communicate one‑on‑one and in small groups to operators, management and engineers.
- Prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
- Translate requirements into an executable schedule.
- High School, Trade School graduate or G.E.D required.
- Associate degree in machining from a vocational trade preferred.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing facility or completion of a vocational certification preferable.
- Intermediate mathematical skills including basic math, geometry and trigonometry.
- Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Windows 10, MS Office & SAP.
- At least 6 months of experience working with CNC machines and equipment used in optical fabrication.
- Familiarity with measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges.
- Prior DMG, Hurco & Siemens control experience a plus.
- Strong analytical skills – capable of translating requirements into an executable schedule.
- Cross‑train and support cross‑functional groups.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
- Strong ability to work safely on fragile, high‑value optics.
- Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism.
- Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication.
- Proven ability to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements.
- May also be exposed to laser energy, magnetic fields and open flames.
- Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around campus.
- May require travel dependent on business needs.
- Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for the entire duration of shift.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be comfortable working around lasers, working with ladders, working on platforms, and working around chemicals.
- Must be able to work in a moderate to high noise level environment in a temperature‑controlled environment.
- Must be comfortable operating/working around overhead cranes, fork trucks and motorized pallet movers.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, solvents, polishing slurry, and tooling.
May be exposed to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
