Optical Fabrication Technician

Shift: Back End Days 6am – 6pm (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, alternate Wednesday)

Fabricate some of the world’s most advanced optical components used in semiconductor photolithography machines. Through attention to detail, results orientation, and commitment to task, produce high‑precision optics per production schedule, maintain safety and organization, and contribute to continuous improvement.

• Actively monitor and take ownership of optical processing equipment
• Handle delicate optical components and visually identify any abnormal characteristics
• Maintain area, tooling, and equipment to 5S standards
• Identify and report unsafe conditions
• Identify and report product or process quality concerns promptly
• Perform assigned work to support area and factory schedule execution
• Collaborate with Production Engineering and Manufacturing Management to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
• Learn and apply skills to handle progressively more challenging products
• Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, output, and cycle time
• Inspect and map glass surfaces showing all minute defects
• Clean optical surfaces of particles and contaminants
• Accurately record time and attendance
• Assist with training new and existing employees

Must be willing to work a compressed work week schedule—twelve‑hour long shift and rotating from three to four days per week.

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate degree in a vocational trade preferred
• Previous experience in a manufacturing facility or completion of a vocational certification preferred
• Experience with measuring equipment such as microscopes, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machine (CMM), or interferometer desirable
• Participation in continuous improvement efforts (quality circles, kaizen events, etc.)

• Routine required to sit, walk, talk, hear, use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch; occasionally move around campus
• May require travel dependent on business needs
• Work in a clean room environment with full gowning: full body coveralls, hood, CR safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves, and safety glasses; ISO 9000/14000 standards
• Occasional lifting or moving up to 35 pounds
• Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Comfortable working around lasers, ladders, platforms, chemicals, and moderate to high noise level in a temperature‑controlled environment
• Ability to operate or work around overhead cranes, fork trucks, and motorized pallet movers
• Potential exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage, and currents; potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, solvents, and tooling
